“Care is about meeting needs. In today’s workplace, these needs extend far beyond the financial, encompassing relationships, identity, belonging, meaning, and more—essential elements that drive high performance.”
Dao Yin Consulting was founded by Baozhen Maggie Luo-Hermanson, Ph.D.—a leadership coach, team coach, facilitator, international speaker, and scholar. Before establishing Dao Yin Consulting, Baozhen enjoyed a rewarding 15-year academic career as a sociologist and a social gerontologist, during which she earned tenure and rose to the rank of full professor in the US. She also served as a global health professor and led a prominent research center at a prestigious U.S.-China joint venture university in China.
Baozhen made a bold transition from academia to industry with a deep desire to apply her research-based knowledge of human collaboration, social dynamics, social change, social identities, and health and well-being to create meaningful impacts on individuals, organizations, and communities, beyond higher education settings.
Her life mission is to reduce unnecessary suffering—for herself and for others. Through founding Dao Yin Consulting, Baozhen seeks to address the unnecessary suffering that often arises as organizations pursue growth. While growth inevitably involves challenges—no pain, no gain—many of the struggles organizations face stem from avoidable issues, such as unchecked biases, poorly designed policies, and unhealthy workplace cultures characterized by a lack of care or care ethics.
These challenges can be mitigated or even eliminated when care is fully embedded into an organization’s DNA. However, achieving this is no small task, which is why Baozhen established Dao Yin Consulting—to guide and support organizations on this transformative journey.
In addition to her extensive teaching and research background and diverse professional experiences in higher education, Baozhen has completed advanced training and earned certifications from prestigious institutions. Her credentials include Organizational Relationship System Coaching (CRR Global), Power Intelligence Coaching (Diamond Leadership), Negotiation Mastery (Harvard Business School), Leveraging Diversity and Inclusion for Organizational Excellence (Stanford Graduate School of Business), and Leadership Training for Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (LEAP). Baozhen’s coaching and facilitation work is also deeply influenced by Processwork-Oriented Psychology, with valuable skills and insights gained from regular courses taught by senior faculty at the Processwork Institute.
